Unbeknownst to Richard and Emily, their father Myles Aldridge is Jugathra, the multiform God. He sends Osira to usher weak dead souls to purgatory, where they spiral ivory towers. Nearby, black wraiths orbit ebony spires, and neither mingle. Arumas ferries the good to heaven. Through dreams, the siblings discover black crystals that awaken their Godhood. Richard becomes Shenra, intent on preventing galactic war, replacing mortal souls with wraiths and sending the displaced to purgatory. Emily becomes Anahira, cleansing Earth and restoring Shenra’s victims on a world of pink skies and waterfalls. War ultimately erupts between the siblings.
